Diving history in ancient times and the middle age

From ancient times to the middle age around the 14th century, diving was very limited. Divers had to hold their breath or on some accounts what could have been an upside down cauldron worn on the head. The most notable parts are the story of Alexander the Great lowered in a glass bell but also Archimedes who wrote the principles of buoyancy.
