The legend of Scyllias diving for King Xerxes of Persia

In the writings of Herodotus and later by Pausanias, a man from Scione named Scyllias helped the Persian King Xerxes. He was diving to salvage treasures from the wrecks of the many wars between Greeks and Persian. Pausanias also writes that he taught his own daughter Hydna to dive.
